As such, BCSD is requesting the public&#39;s feedback regarding the potential 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic calendars that have been developed based on initial holistic input from educators and SIC chairs (which includes parents). Please know that the final calendars have not yet been decided. As such, your feedback and input are essential!Keep in mind BCSD must adhere to the following <a class="fr-strong" href="http://tinyurl.com/2wjnncmb">legal state guidelines</a> when designing the academic calendar:&bull; The calendar must have 190 days with 180 being student instructional days &bull; 10 days are for professional development &bull; Three days are for collegial planning based on educational standards &bull; No more than 2 days may be used for preparing classrooms &bull; The remaining 5 days may be used for teacher planning, academic plans, and parent conferences &bull; Three days may be allocated (not less than three hours) for staff development, teacher conferences, or for the purpose of administering end-of-semester and end-of-year examinations &bull; Safe Return to Schools Plan Feedback

The Beaufort County School District (BCSD) is in the beginning stages of planning the FY 2023-24 budget and requests public feedback. BCSD, like many others across the nation, will be facing some unique challenges in the upcoming year. We are entering our final year of Federal ESSER funds. Planning for the transition away from this additional funding will require prioritizing resources and identifying alternative funding for successful initiatives. Additionally, we are facing unprecedentedly rising costs for services, supplies, and compensation.State and local funds will be needed to sustain the gains we have made in compensation and to keep us at a competitive level. We continue to be optimistic that the state legislature will provide additional funding to support teachers&rsquo; salaries and other state mandates. As we compile your feedback, we will look for common themes to incorporate into our budget priorities.Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions.The forum will close on February 8.
