Consultation has concluded

Last fall, Beaufort County School District (BCSD) hosted a series of public information sessions to gather feedback to shape the next phase of planning for the opening of the new May River Elementary School in the 2027-2028 school year. After reviewing several attendance zone options, district staff, leadership, and the Board of Education have advanced a Board-vetted proposal, Option 2, which is now being shared with the community for additional review, discussion, and feedback.

BCSD is hosting another round of public information sessions to learn more about proposed attendance zone adjustments associated with the opening of May River Elementary School in 2027-2028. During these sessions, staff will present Option 2, a Board-reviewed attendance zone proposal, explain potential impacts on schools and students, and gather community feedback before developing final recommendations.

The proposed changes are intended to address enrollment growth, balance student enrollment across schools, improve attendance boundaries and feeder patterns, and support long-term planning for Bluffton-area schools.

All sessions begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held August 17-27 at schools throughout the Bluffton area. No final decisions have been made, and community feedback will help inform recommendations that will be considered by the Board of Education this fall.

If you are unable to attend a session in person, you can provide your feedback in the survey below. A full list of public information session dates, as well as the presentation, can be found on the right under "Documents" and "Public Information Session Dates".
