Beaufort County School District (BCSD) invites Bluffton families, staff, and community members to share feedback regarding potential changes to student assignment in Bluffton area schools.

This feedback opportunity is part of BCSD’s planning process for the opening of May River Elementary School in the 2027–2028 school year and to address enrollment and capacity challenges at Bluffton Schools while also preparing for future growth.

Student assignment adjustments are being considered:

  • To welcome students to the new May River Elementary School for the 2027-2028 school year.
  • To help reduce crowding at Pritchardville and Okatie Elementary Schools.
  • To make better use of available space across Bluffton-area schools, including Bluffton High, May River High, M.C. Riley Elementary, and H.E. McCracken Middle.
  • To create clearer and more logical school boundaries and smoother transitions from elementary to middle and high school.

No final decisions have been made; this is why your feedback is important. This process will occur over the next year. Please rest assured that no changes will take effect immediately, and consideration will be given to grandfathering-in provisions.

This survey and the public information sessions noted on this website are an important opportunity for Bluffton families and community members to understand the process, ask questions, and provide feedback that will help shape assignment plans for years to come.
