Consultation has concluded

NEW: Instructions on how to participate and provide input have been added under "Documents".

Beaufort County School District (BCSD) understands that the district calendar impacts many key stakeholders, including educators, students, families, businesses, and community members. As such, BCSD is requesting the public's feedback regarding the potential 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic calendars that have been developed based on initial holistic input from educators and SIC chairs (which includes parents).

Please know that the final calendars have not yet been decided. As such, your feedback and input are essential!

Keep in mind BCSD must adhere to the following legal state guidelines when designing the academic calendar:

• The calendar must have 190 days with 180 being student instructional days
• 10 days are for professional development
• Three days are for collegial planning based on educational standards
• No more than 2 days may be used for preparing classrooms
• The remaining 5 days may be used for teacher planning, academic plans, and parent conferences
• Three days may be allocated (not less than three hours) for staff development, teacher conferences, or for the purpose of administering end-of-semester and end-of-year examinations
• Annually at least three days within their school calendars to be used as make-up days

Please review the video below outlining the potential calendar options before providing your input in the "Ideas" section below.

NOTE: When providing feedback, it’s important to refer to each calendar possibility by the following Options:

Please let us know which Options are your preference for both the 2024-2025 year AND the 2025-2026 year.

A PDF of the presentation and the individual calendar options are available for review under the “Documents” tab on the right-hand side of the screen.

The "Ideas" forum and "Quick Poll" below will be open until Sunday, February 4 at 11:59 p.m.
